The mission of MARC-Hawai’i is “Hoʻoulu nā laeʻula akeakamai,” a Hawaiian phrase meaning “good mentoring leads to well-trained scientists”. Becoming a MARC Scholar allows students to gain course credit towards graduation and up to $65,000 for two years, including a research supplies budget, fully paid summer research travel, monthly stipend. The Chemistry Department has a scholarship available for students who are potentially interested in teaching high school chemistry in the future. The scholarship is $5000 per semester and is continued until graduation as long as you maintain eligibility.
