Assist Lyon Education staff with the organization and implementation of the Arboretum education program. Day-to-day tasks include:
General office work such as answering phones, writing memos, correspondence, spreadsheets and other reports as needed, keeping the office database and filing system up to date and organized.
Maintaining the children’s garden (trimming, weeding, planting).
Working with children in an outdoor classroom setting during field trips or outreach events.
Duties may also include video/photo production and editing, creating digital activities for curriculum enhancement, creating educational material, and creating weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote the arboretum on various social media websites.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and community participants. Applicant should have strong oral communication, writing and interpersonal skills; and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Prompt, dependable, responsible.
Ability to maintain a safe field laboratory and classroom experience.
Physically able to lift and carry 30 lbs. and to work outdoors in a rainforest botanical garden environment and mountainous terrain.
Must pass criminal background check.
Desirable Qualifications:
Have current CPR and first aid certification.
Passionate about conservation, loves nature, working outdoors and working with children.
Experience working with children.
Experience with social media, photography and shooting video, and graphic art (or just loves to draw).
