    2021 SURE Program and Symposium

    UROP is pleased to announce that registration for the 2021 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program is open now – June 1. The SURE provides supplementary infrastructure to undergraduate students conducting faculty-mentored research and creative work at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) during the summer. The 9-week program offers online professional development modules once every 1-2 weeks beginning June 3, and concludes with the multi-disciplinary 2021 SURE Symposium on July 30. SURE is free to all participants and there are no mandatory assignments or attendance requirements (i.e., after registering you will be able to attend as many or as few sessions as desired).

    2021 Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference Scholarships Available

    In partnership with Hau‘oli Mau Loa Foundation’s Environmental Leadership Pathways Initiative, the Hawai’i Conservation Alliance and Foundation (the Alliance and Foundation) is pleased to announce the 2021 Hawaiʻi Conservation Conference (HCC) Student & Emerging Professional Scholarship Programs. This registration incentive provides a one-of-a-kind career development opportunity for students and emerging professionals who are interested in pursuing a career in a conservation-related field. Over the years, the program has grown to include high school students, college students and emerging professionals across the Hawaiian Islands.
    All currently enrolled students (high school or college) are eligible for the Student Scholarship Program to attend HCC at a discounted rate of $5. We are also accepting up to 150 emerging professionals, who are no more than 3 years into their career, through the Emerging Professional Scholarship Program. Emerging Professional scholarship recipients can attend Conference at a discounted rate of $15.     Technology Outreach Hawaii - Computer Science Opportunity

    Torch is a student-driven non-profit organization that is looking to bridge the digital divide by promoting technology education, making resources accessible, and empowering youth.     Relay for Life of Oahu 2021

    Join others in the mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer! The Relay for Life movement needs people like you to help multiply their efforts to eliminate cancer as a public health problem. No matter your background or skills, there is a way to help!

    The Relay for Life of Oahu 2021 virtual event will take place on October 2, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

    Hauʻoli Mau Loa Graduate Fellowship

    Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation, SOEST, and the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) are pleased to announce the availability of graduate assistantships for local students dedicated to careers in natural resource management in the state of Hawaiʻi. Assistantships will be awarded in the Spring semester each year for admission in the following Fall semester. Applications are due each year in early January. The overall goal of the Hauʻoli Mau Loa graduate assistantships is to develop the next generation of natural resource management leaders for Hawaiʻi.

    Interns can expect to gain a vast amount of experience both on the water and in our Education Center (EC). In the EC, interns will learn a range of tasks including answering phones, greeting and engaging visitors, processing field data, and performing aquarium maintenance. Additionally, interns will have opportunities to work closely with CRF staff members on a variety of projects related to conservation and non-profit administration.

    New $750 AAPI Scholarship for University of Hawaii - Manoa Students

    A new scholarship is available to students at University of Hawaii - Manoa just in time for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! The bi-annual WiseGeek's Asian American/Pacific Islander Scholarship is meant to support the Asian American community and encourage diversity in academia. This $750 scholarship will help current students who are Asian American/Pacific Islander pay their tuition or student loans.
