Through weekly field trips, you'll have the opportunity to visit Oʻahu’s native ecosystems, from bogs to cloud forests and alpine plants to dryland shrubs.

Interested in taking a Math class over the Summer?

Interested in taking a Precalculus class over the Summer? Take Math 140 this summer to review your algebraic skills, learn polynomial and trigonometric functions, and solidify your precalculus skills this summer.

BIOL 402: Principles of Biochemistry – Summer 2025

Gain a strong foundation in biochemistry this summer with BIOL 402 / MBBE 402. This 4-credit course covers key biochemical principles, including molecular structure, metabolism, and enzymology, using Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry (8th Edition).

BIOL 310: Environmental Issues – Climate Change in Cinema

Explore the powerful intersection of science, cinema, and climate change in this upper-division biology elective! In BIOL 310, students will examine environmental issues through the lens of film, analyzing how movies depict the science of climate change and its societal impact. Engage in thought-provoking discussions and deepen your understanding of both the biological and cultural aspects of environmental crises.

Math 370 – Financial Mathematics

Unlock your future in finance with Math 370: Financial Mathematics. Dive deep into the mathematical foundations of interest theory, annuities, amortization, bond pricing, and investment analysis. UHM SEA-PHAGES has launched!

Are you an incoming student who is interested in biological research? Now is your chance to jump in feet first. Consider joining the UHM SEA-PHAGES (Science Education Alliance – Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science) Program! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to join your peers working closely with faculty to perform hands-on research, all while completing your introductory biology laboratory credits. To find out more about the program requirements, and how to apply, follow the links below!

MATH 305 : Probabilistic Models

Explore the mathematical foundations of uncertainty  with MATH 305: Mathematical Modeling – Probabilistic Models. This course delves into stochastic processes, Poisson processes, Markov models, estimation techniques, and Monte Carlo simulations, with a focus on applications to biological and physical processes in both natural and engineering applications.

MATH 301 : Discrete Mathematics

Math 301 is an introductory survey of several interesting and important areas of mathematics that are not part of the `usual' sequence that starts with Calculus.  Topics include number theory, combinatorics, and graph theory, as well as some basic logic and set theory, and an introduction to proofs, including mathematical induction.
