OCN 496 Topics in GES (Hack for Oceans)

Introducing a new course in Oceanography: Topics in GES (Hack for Oceans)! Students who are interested in starting their own companies that solve ocean problems.  Furthermore, teams in this class will have opportunities for money for their prototypes, and potentially paid internships.

ICS 496 Capstone - BST Internship

If you are looking for an ICS 496 capstone please consider BST Internship. This opportunity will count towards the ICS 496  (or ICS 400+ elective) and is a part-time paid internship ($20 per hour). Hours range from 12-15 hours a week. BST is looking for 1-2 ICS students.

Bioinformatics Training Available

Are you interested in learning Bioinformatics? Check out this summer seminar series through INBRE! These seminars that introduce participants to the basics of bioinformatics – the interfacing of computers and biology – and the fundamental tasks that bioinformatic tools are employed for in the analysis of proteins, nucleotides, and genomes.

PH 445: Environment and Microorganisms

Did you know some microbial pathogens exist in air, water, and soil? Did you know some environmental microorganisms produce important drugs - antibiotics and antivirals? Did you know some microbes can live in extreme environmental conditions (>100°C, 35% SALT, PH≤2.0)? Do you know the important role of microbes in bioremediation and environmental biotechnology?
Keep up to date with current methods of studying and controlling microorganisms in this new BIOL elective!

OCN 340: Ecology of Infectious Disease and Symbiosis

This course will be offered for the upcoming Spring 2022 semester! This is a 3 credit course that is only offered during the Spring. OCN340 will satisfy electives in Biology, Botany, GES, NREM, and Public Health. Prereqs: Biol. 171/172 or consent of instructor. If you have any questions, please contact jania@hawaii.edu.

Admissions for fall enrollment for the Quantitative Health Sciences track for a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research has opened! Application deadline for the program is May 30th. This two year program, offered by the JABSOM Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, is suited for physician-researchers and those in or pursuing careers in clinical research.  

Clinical Research Track by JABSOM

Admissions for fall enrollment for the Clinical Research track for a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research has opened! Application deadline for the program is May 30th. This two year program, offered by the JABSOM Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, will prepare students for future careers in areas such as biostatistics, bioinformatics, analysis of healthcare data.

Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research

Admissions for fall enrollment for the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research has opened! Application deadline for the program is July 15th. This two semester program, offered by the JABSOM Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, is ideal for medical trainees, gap-year students, and health professionals.
