Study Abroad Advisor

Hello! I joined the College of Natural Sciences team in June 2018, but I’ve been an advisor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Study Abroad Center since 1997. I received a double BA in Japanese and French, and an MA in French language and literature, both from UHM. While a student I studied in Germany, Argentina and France. Besides English, I speak Japanese, French, Spanish and German, at various levels. The skills I learned while navigating different languages and cultures still serve me professionally and personally.

I encourage all students to consider participating in a study abroad program while at UHM. It doesn’t have to delay graduation and can be a truly fulfilling experience.

Undergraduate Academic Advisor

Hi everyone! My name is Sara, and I joined the College of Natural Sciences Student Academic Services Center in Summer 2023.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Public Health with a minor in Computer Science here at the University of Hawaiʻi (UH) at Mānoa. As a student, I participated and served in leadership positions in clubs such as the Pre-Medical Association and Hui Ola Pono. Eager to apply my classroom knowledge, I participated in research at the UH Cancer Center and interned for the Maui Nui Food Alliance sector of Hawaiʻi Public Health Institute.

After graduating, I worked with the Waimānalo Health Center as a health educator, which strengthened my awareness for the importance of educating youth and eventually brought me here to help the students of my alma mater.

Outside of work, I enjoy dabbling in the arts/fashion, jumping into spontaneous activities, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I look forward to meeting you all and hope to serve my UH Mānoa community well! :)

Office Assistant

Aloha everyone! My name is Alain and I’ve been a College of Natural Sciences Office Assistant since the Summer of 2022.

I am originally from the Big Island of Hawai‘i, and graduated from Kohala High School in 2021. When I first came to Mānoa, I originally started as a BS Biology major, but have recently switched to pursue a BS Psychology major to help cater to my future career interests. After receiving my undergraduate degree, I hope to go to medical school to pursue my interest in neuroscience and become a neurologist; however, I am open to change and exploration as I go through my academic journey. I enjoy helping and assisting others in any way I can, which is why I decided to take on the office assistant position. In addition, I am also a Learning Assistant on campus and am involved in other campus organizations and clubs surrounding pre medicine and psychology as well. When I’m not working or in school, I love spending quality time with my friends, exploring the island and going to the beach (after getting poke bowls from Foodland of course,) or listening to music and watching movies while taking some time to myself!

I look forward to working with you all, and I hope I can assist you in any way I can!

Office Assistant

Aloha! My name is Skylar and I am one of the Office Assistants for the College of Natural Sciences Student Academic Success Center.

I was born and raised here on O‘ahu and graduated from Aiea High School in 2021. When I first enrolled at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, I initially majored in Biology. However, since then I realized that my interests align more in cognitive and behavioral sciences. This led me to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology. Now in my second-year, I have come to appreciate many aspects of this field – especially how it allows me to apply what I learn to my immediate surroundings. Because of this, I have been able to view the world through a unique lens. Additionally, to further supplement my current interests and experiences, I have joined clubs such as Katipunan Club. This club, along with my position as an office assistant, has allowed me to fulfill my passion of connecting and learning from others. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and watching movies.

Thank you all and I look forward to assisting you throughout your college career! Swag.
